Koh Samet

Koh Samet:

Koh Samet, the small island used a couple of hours from Bangkok, to be a destination for people from the city for a weekend and backpackers enjoy the relaxed atmosphere, beautiful beaches and inexpensive bungalows. Koh Samet has changed! These days, you can still get a lot of Bangkokians come straight from work on a Friday night before another week of work in a quiet complex recharge, and many backpackers hang on the beaches, but also found some high-end Trains and Cruises Villas and tourists from all over the world.

What to expect:

Koh Samet is a small island in the Gulf of Siam, a few miles from the mainland and 140 kilometers from Bangkok. At its widest point, which is only 4 kilometers in diameter, but despite its size, there are many resorts and bungalows to stay in, lots of bars and restaurants, too. The island is a national park, even when things are built entirely around the beaches, the interior is mostly jungle.

All the beaches of Koh Samet has soft white sand, slightly curved ribs and hot tropical Thailand is known, water. But since the island so close to the mainland, you will not clear the water.

Overnight:

There are over 50 Koh Samet hotels, resorts and bungalows to choose from the island. Some offer easy walking distance of the beach huts ventilated for 500 baht or less. Others, like Paradee Resort offer luxury bungalows secluded beaches of 10,000 baht per night or more.

Getting to Koh Samet:

By Bus: Take a direct bus from Ekkamai bus station in Bangkok to Ban Phe Pier in Rayong.

By minibus: Take minibus from Victory Monument skytrain Ban Phe Pier.

By car: Take Highway 36 or Highway 3 in Rayong and follow the signs to Koh Samet / Ban Phe.

By boat: Once in Ban Phe, the ferry to Baan float on the north side of the island. The ferry can only be up to 17 hours if you miss (or want to be placed in a certain area instead of Baan Nadan), you can rent a boat for about 1400 baht.

Move Samet

Visitors can move with the system or motorcycle taxi on the island, but small enough to go around.

Taxis are coach with seats in the back and only leave when they are full. If you take a on a normal road expect to pay 50 baht. If you can not wait, you get 100 baht and 300 baht for free depending on your destination.

Motorcycles are very popular with visitors, but can be difficult for beginners how to be limited to the streets of the island are in poor condition, hilly and often prone to flooding. If you rent a bike, look for a dirt bike with better suspension and tires for a field.
